How to Change the Battery

Installing the Battery in a StudSensor EDGE, e-Series, or OneStep® Stud Finder

DO NOT UNSCREW THE BACK OF THE TOOL.

This will release the components inside the tool and will cause it to work improperly.

Step 1

Open the battery compartment door on the back. Insert a new 9V alkaline battery, matching the positive and negative terminals to the icons printed on the back. Be sure the battery has an extended expiration date.

Step 2

Snap the battery into place and replace the battery compartment door.

Installing the Battery in StudSensor Stud Finders with Belt Clip

DO NOT UNSCREW THE BACK OF THE TOOL.

This will release the components inside your unit and will cause it to work improperly.

Step 1

The stud finder’s battery compartment cover doubles as a belt clip. It was designed to be intentionally tight so it will not pop open during normal use. Grasp the tool by the sides of the handle or the base (not on the belt clip).

Step 2

With your other hand, press the lip of the battery cover up about 1/16 inch. If difficult to lift the lip of the battery cover with your thumb, try using a flat tip screw driver. Place the screwdriver under the lip and push up to unsnap the cover from the handle.

Step 3

Once the tab is lifted, the cover will pop open. Slide the battery cover off.

Step 4

Insert a brand new 9V alkaline battery into the compartment, terminal side first, matching (+) and (-) terminals from battery to case.

Slide the cover back on, just as it was removed, and snap it securely into place.
